Equality and Diveristy at UoP

The University of Portsmouth is  "committed to providing the best working and learning environment, where staff and students are able to achieve their full potential in an environment that is inclusive, [and] where dignity and respect is demonstrated by all."  In support of this aim, the university have updated the Equality and Diversity Policy, which was released on Thursday.  Additionally, the former Anti-bullying and Harrassment Policy has been revised and released as the Dignity and Respect Policy.

Since the start of February, the Portsmouth Film Society have been celebrating it's 3rd Pride LGBT+ Film Festival in Hampshire, with weekly screenings of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans-themed films.  This festival will culminate this week with a screening of Girl Lost which is free for all UoP (more details here).  This film festival is held as part of the LGBT History Month.  Also in support of this activity, the Eldon building has been lit up in rainbow colours.  Other LGBT activities around the UK are listed here.

Another highlight for the coming week is a free public lecture by Danny Dorling (University of Oxford) on "What geography can teach us about inequality".  This will be held at 6pm Weds 22nd February in the Portland Building; bookings can be made from the above link.
